Inside understanding scars

This course, broken into manageable short video lessons, provides the learner with a foundation of knowledge, in the physiological and emotional impacts of trauma or surgery. We explore causes of dysfunctional scars and a wide range of considerations, useful for any therapy or movement professional when working with people in both early recovery and with historic scars.

All of the lessons include ideas and considerations for providing a variety of physical therapy and exercise approaches.  You will also be given specific guidelines to consider when providing therapy and exercise, described as “Recommendations and Interventions”. These will be useful when you are working with different clients and different types of functional or pathological scar and adhesion formation. Practical techniques are not taught in this course.

Learners should be able to relate the information delivered to their field of health practice to enlighten and inform their work when a patient history reveals an injury or trauma has created a scar
