As we reach the midway point of the year, I’ve been taking some time to reflect on everything that has happened across Restore Therapy. It’s been a year of growth, new opportunities, international travel, and most importantly, a continued commitment to supporting therapists and healthcare professionals to deliver the very best care to their clients. When writing this I realised that it’s a long blog post – as there is so much to celebrate and share!
One of the biggest highlights so far has been the continued expansion of Restore Therapy scar tissue training internationally. In Australia, our Global Certified Trainer, Lizzie Milligan, has successfully launched new courses which have been met with incredible enthusiasm. The response has exceeded all expectations, with courses selling out quickly and additional dates being added to meet demand. It has been wonderful to see so many therapists eager to learn and develop their scar therapy skills, and exciting to watch our community grow on the other side of the world.
Building on this momentum, we are also delighted that Zoe Porter is newly launched as a Certified Global Trainer across both Australia and New Zealand. Zoe will be delivering our Caesarean Scar Specialist and Scar Therapy Practitioner courses, helping even more therapists access high-quality training and bringing Restore Therapy’s approach to more therapists on the other side of the world.
Janna Hawkins continues to offer regular opportunities to the therapists in new Zealand wanting to expand their skills and become Oncology Scar Specialist, with upcoming courses for 2026 in Wellington and Auckland. This is enabling more people in New Zealand to seek help with tightness and fibrosis after cancer surgery and radiotherapy.
In Ireland, Sona Dowds continues to blossom as a certified trainer and ambassador for Restore Therapy. This year she has also developed and delivered a specialist training course for hand therapists, combining the Restore Scar Therapy method with the unique requirements of hand physiotherapy. It is always inspiring to see our methods being adapted and applied within specialist areas of practice, helping therapists achieve even better outcomes for their patients and demonstrating the versatility of scar therapy across healthcare disciplines.
The year has also included a number of exciting private training course opportunities. Alongside courses within cancer rehabilitation and cancer support settings, we have taught with orthopaedic and MSK settings. We delivered a private scar management training for the Ministry of Defence physiotherapist and nursing team. For the BAPCAR community – who are a specialist group of physiotherapists who support recovery after amputation – We delivered a private course for their members. This reflects our growing reputation and the recognition of scar therapy across diverse rehabilitation settings.
March was particularly memorable, with teaching taking Emma to Taiwan, where I had the privilege of sharing all three of the Restore Therapy courses with practitioners. The experience was incredibly rewarding, and I am delighted to be returning to teach again in Taipei during March 2027.
This year also marked another exciting milestone as we taught in Greece for the first time. Expanding into a new country and connecting with healthcare professionals eager to learn more about scar therapy was a wonderful experience and one I hope to build upon in the future with more course planned for later in 2026 and in 2027. Our collaboration with a physiotherapy training company in Belgium means we are now offering more and more training within women’s health with Caroline Callister teaching the Caesarean Scar Specialist course. We have been asked to teach in Croatia we hope to announce a date for a course very soon – watch this space!
These international opportunities for Restore Therapy continue to reinforce the universal need for effective scar therapy education and the growing global interest in this specialist field.
