Restore Therapy continues to engage with healthcare professionals across the UK, and this time Emma had the opportunity to connect with nurses in the community at the Wound Care Today 2025 conference.
In the lead-up to the event, Emma shared:
“I am looking forward to speaking for the first time at Wound Care Today conference 2025. Many healthcare professionals at this conference are supporting people with chronic wounds and complexities such as diabetes. Chronic wounds leave less functional scar tissue, as smooth wound healing has not occurred—this delayed healing and persisting levels of inflammation impact the scar tissue quality and formation. Chronic wounds often leave scars which may be cosmetically inferior, more dense, stiff tissue and potentially more adherent scar tissue.”
Restore Therapy plays a key role in raising awareness of the importance of scar care. Presenting to healthcare professions at conferences like this allows us to share our knowledge, expertise and approach with professionals on the frontline of wound management.
The conference included interactive workshops and in-depth presentations on varied subjects such as reducing amputation numbers, medical care pathways and people management for nurses. The focus on supporting individuals with complex wound care needs was evident throughout.
The team at Wound Care Today summed it up perfectly:
“What an incredible conference it’s been – full of inspiring education, valuable insights and meaningful connections.”
Chronic wounds can lead to altered scarring, which may impact both appearance and mobility. We always recommend people should speak to a medical professional if they have any concerns their wound may be infected or is very slow to heal. Once the wound has finally healed and the scabs have fallen off, scar therapy can commence.
It was great that Emma Holly was able to share some basics on scar treatment in her presentation, to help nursing staff support their patients, from simple topical scar products to self-scar massage guidelines. Feedback from the attendees was very positive and there were lots of interactions on the conference app on the topic as well.
