Sona Dowds is a Chartered Physiotherapist with over 23 years of experience in the field. She holds a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy and an MSc in Physiotherapy and Biomechanical Engineering from Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic. With a special interest in hand therapy, she is currently working towards becoming a Certified Hand Therapist. Sona currently works in a busy Physiotherapy and Hand Therapy clinic in the South West of Ireland, specialising in Hand therapy and Scar therapy. In addition, she shares her knowledge by teaching soft splinting workshops to hand therapists, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists.

Throughout her career, Sona has recognised the often-underestimated importance of scar management in post-surgical rehabilitation. Passionate about addressing this, she made it a priority to incorporate scar therapy into her practice. Seizing the opportunity, she trained as a Restore Scar Therapy Practitioner and further deepened her knowledge by completing the Oncology Scar Specialist and Advanced Understanding Scars courses. The gentle yet effective principles of Restore Scar Therapy align closely with her own “Restore Without the Pain” philosophy in physiotherapy. Sona is excited to share her expertise and passion for scar management with fellow professionals across Ireland.
